Pre-64 Winchester Model 70 bolt action sporting rifle, .30-06 cal., 24" barrel, blue finish, checkered walnut one-piece high comb pistol grip stock with sling swivels and period leather sling, steel tipped ramped blade and folding rear sights, clear factory markings with Winchester "WP" proofs on the left side of the barrel and receiver. The rifle is topped with Buehler two-piece mounts, rings and a Bushnell Scope Chief fixed 4x rifle scope with a post and crosshair reticle, providing bright optics. Mfg. in 1957, the rifle is in very good overall condition, retaining 80-85% thinning finish with wear at the muzzle, surface erosion and pinprick pitting on the barrel due to poor storage. The receiver shows edge wear and thinning finish. The bottom metal and trigger guard show edge wear. The stock is in very good condition with indentations, scrapes and numerous scuffs to the finish. The checkering shows smoothing. The buttstock ends with a Winchester solid rubber recoil pad, providing a 13.75" LOP. The bore is very good with well-defined rifling. The action functions smoothly with a crisp trigger. This one would benefit from some TLC. (C&R).
