Scarce Winchester Model 1895 lever action rifle, in the rare .30-03 caliber with a 24" round barrel, Beech folding front sight, plugged rear sight and adjustable aperture sight at the left rear of the receiver, retaining 50-60% thinning finish showing scrapes and scratches along the barrel. The receiver displays considerable thinning finish drifting to a grey patina. The smooth walnut two-piece straight grip stock shows a Schnabel fore end and ends with smooth steel crescent butt plate, providing a 12.75" LOP. The barrel is marked ".30 U.S. MOD. 1903." with sharp Winchester "WP" proofs on the barrel and receiver. The .30-03 cartridge was intended to replace the .30-40 Krag cartridge. It was short lived and ultimately lost out to the .30-06. Winchester chambered the 1895 in .30-03 from 1905-1910 only, making it a scarce variation. (C&R).
