This is a scarce U.S. 1911 refurbished by the Augusta Arsenal and bearing the X-prefix serial number. According to Clawson’s "Colt .45 Service Pistols, " this pistol was one of 100 pistols refurbished and so marked in the early 1950’s-see page 418. .45 ACP cal., with a 5" barrel, two-piece WWII era checkered grips, sharp markings, crisp action, excellent bore/rifling and 97% arsenal era parkerized finish. The lot includes a partial Kraft box with partial shipping document. Included in the lot is a copy of Appendix F, indicating the serial number ranges of pistols in the third series. A scarce, high condition pistol. (C&R).
