Highly desirable, very rare (about only 5,000 produced) U.S. Springfield Armory Model 1898 Krag Model 1898 Saddlering Carbine in .30-40 Krag caliber w/ a 22" round barrel displays ~40% matte blued finish to the gun’s parts, traces of case colors to the frame plus traces of niter blue to the top bolt flat. The balance has gone to a pleasing gray patina. The hardwood stock & handguard are near excellent with beautiful grain patterns, rich oil finish and including a visible circle "P" proof behind the trigger guard & inspector cartouche "JSA" OVER 1899 on the left side of the stock behind the saddlering assembly. Markings are sharp, action crisp & the bore/rifling are near excellent. Comes w/ a cleaning kit in the butt trap. (C&R).
