U.S. Remington Rand Model 1911-A1 semi-auto pistol in .45 caliber w/ a 5" polished barrel INSCRIBED on the right side slide "MAJOR GEORGE B. FERREE" over "0-220195" over "WORLD WAR II AIR CORPS", displays ~95% military parkerized finish to the gun’s parts. The two-piece clear grips are excellent & possibly made from a military plane’s canopy. Markings are sharp, action crisp & the bore/rifling are near excellent. Major Ferree served in both WW I and WW II, and later became known for his distinctive "Trench Art" and contributions to communications equipment used in the trenches of WW I. Major Ferree’s unique and interesting service history definitely warrants additional research. (C&R).
