Colt Official Police Model double action six shot revolver in .38 caliber w/ a 2" un-marked round barrel displays ~99% blued finish to the gun’s parts w/ a polished hammer. The two-piece checkered walnut grips are also excellent, showing silver colored Rampant Colt logo discs inset at the top of each grip panel. Markings are sharp, action crisp & the bore/rifling are excellent. NOTE: According to information provided by the publication "U.S. Handguns of World War II * The Secondary Pistols and Revolvers, page 158, "Starting shortly after WWII, many Colt .38 Special revolvers were converted to two-inch barrel length by replacing the barrels. At least 1,200 were converted in 1950 alone." Per the article, the revolver is within the serial number range for guns that were sold to the military. (C&R).
